In TIME magazine, Camille Paglia argues for lowering the drinking age in the United States.
Reality argues that Camille Paglia has perhaps lost her mind.
Lowering the US drinking age would not result in Western Europe-type cool enjoyable culture and moderation. It would be one long never-ending episode of Jackass, and a lot of people not named Budweiser would get hurt or killed.
Instead of pretending the US can miraculously adopt an Italian or French alcohol culture, and lowering or eliminating the drinking age to go along with that preposterous theory, let’s just throw 5,000 people off a bridge every month. It would be cheaper, nobody would have a hangover, and less innocent people would get killed.
